Acne can be a tough one, especially because once you finally feel like you’ve got a handle on things…you can have another episode. Hormones change, life throws you an unexpected curve, or you overindulge on sugar for a few days.
That being said, it takes a culmination of good eating, in addition to a healthy lifestyle.
In regards to foods, here’s what I would recommend focusing on and some potential food sources for you to try if you haven’t already;
•WATER: Lots of hydration will not only help moisture the skin, but also help flush out any unwanted toxins.
•FRUITS & VEGGIES: High in anti-inflammatory agents; consume away!
•VITAMIN A: Almost all acne medications contain Vitamin A and the reason why is that it is anti-clogging.
oSalmon, Carrots, Spinach, Broccoli
•ZINC: Helps to calm irritated skin and repair already damaged tissue.
oOysters, Sesame Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Squash,
•VITAMIN E & C: Both Vitamin E & C having calming affects on the skin.
oNuts, Olive Oil, Broccoli, Avocados
oOranges, Papayas, Tomatoes, Kiwi (Vitamin C)
•SELENIUM: Selenium will help control cell damage in the skin.
oSalmon, Tuna, Beans, Eggs, Brown Rice
•OMEGA 3’S: Again, lots of anti-inflammatory agents here, aiding in fighting off what general might trigger a skin disturbance.
oSalmon, Flax seed oil, Nuts
All of the aforementioned should also help reduce any scaring.
All of this being said, I would highly recommend you focus issue that seemed to trigger your recent outbreak; stress. Stress can do wonders on the body, as can having an outlet to help relieve stress. If you haven’t already try to find an outlet that helps you distress in any way possible; working out, yoga, meditation, journaling, tea with friends, or walking a friendly pet
