Heart PVC
« on: May 04, 2012, 11:06:51 AM »
About 4 days ago I started getting an extra beat in my chest, where it took my breath away. I went to the doctor and he said it was PVC. It's where the bottom part of the heart beats first and then the top part. It doesn't feel good st all. Any suggestions???

Stephen Sinatra, MD (metabolic cardiology) recommends CoQ10 (100mg, 2X/day) for PVC-it stabilizes membranes of the electrical conduction system; I have used taurine with many people-to calm down an overly excited heart & an upregulated sympathetic-2gm, 2X/day-away form food; also heart tonics-hawthorne extract (Gaia has a great paste-about 1 tsp/day), or can get caps or tinctures; avoid stimulants such as caffeine; proactice claming activities-deep breathing; nourish the parasympathetic; adreanl tonics-holy basil, tulsi tea; Dr Sinatra also recoomends fish oil-2gm/day, Magnesium-400-800mg/day (the relaxation mineral) or try an epsom slats bath with lavender oil, candles...

I've had PVCs since childhood. Feels fluttery and makes me want to cough. Only thing that's ever stopped them is magnesium, though I haven't tried CoQ10. I use 300 mg, 1 - 2 times daily. I know they're considered to be from sympathetic overactivity, but they hit me at widely varying times, sometimes under stress, sometimes when I'm completely relaxed.

Do you have Hashimoto's disease or an overactive thyroid? Excess thyroid hormone, whether from destruction of thyroid tissue, as in Hashi's, or from outright hyperthyroidism, can cause this.

Thank you both for responding, it helps me out a lot. I have anxiety really bad so I thin syne stress triggered it, not really sure. I have been tested for my thyroid and they said I'm in normal range, just on the low side. This feeling is horrible though, feels like my heart is going to stop on me.

If your thyroid is in the low range, then I'd bet it's not "normal." Thyroid testing is tricky. If you do a search of previous forum posts, you'll find how to test and where you want your results to land. If you decide to pursue this, post again, or email me, and I can walk you through it. And I'm not saying that this has anything to do, necessarily, with the PVCs. My specialty is thyroid issues, and "normal" and "low" don't belong in the same sentence together in my opinion.

Can you direct me in the right direction on what to do for low thyroid. I have seen dr shames and he gave me thyroid medication and adrenal hormone very low dose for both, but I was nervouse about taking it, so I haven't yet.. Do you recommend it? I have a list. My adrenals, thyroid, PVC, and anxiety..
