Easy spinach 'gomae' (Japanese style)
« on: May 12, 2012, 10:00:08 AM »
I just love gomae at Japanese restaurants but I suspect they do not use organic spinach or other high quality ingredients. So, I've been trying to replicate it at home and came up with a super easy way to have this yummy dish.

Steam 1-2 bunches of spinach (just a quick steam is all it takes, more if there are stems)
Put in large bowl and drizzle a couple of teaspoons of sesame oil. Take a nori pack and rip them into smaller pieces. Mix it all together and sprinkle some sesame seeds on top. The nori (laver) that I buy usually is salted so there is no need to add additional salt. However, this is all to taste.

Makes a great side dish that you can eat hot or room temperature. Hope you'll like it.
