I am still really confused about why oranges, or anything citrus for that matter are on the alkaline side of the acid-alkaline scale. I always thought that citrus fruits are very acidic because of the citrus acid. For example, when I go to buy orange juice, there is one that says, "low acidity." Another example, my brother has acid reflux so he was told not to drink orange juice. However, I was told in class that it is the opposite! If someone could please clear up this confusion, or explain the chemistry behind it for me that would be great. Thanks!
