Isagenix, anyone?
« on: July 10, 2010, 06:57:05 PM »
I have been introduced to the Isagenix food & nutrient program that cleanses as it nourishes the body.  I like a more customized approach, but Isagenix has a reputation, supposedly, of being highly researched (and staying current) with the use of high quality ingredients. I would appreciate anyone's feedback on this product line.  Thank you....Cheryl  email: csarkisian@fhallen.com

I have some samples that a friend provided to me.  I was looking at them last night and thinking that I would do some research on it when I get some free time.  :o

I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

I've looked into these products for a client of mine and have been completely UNDERwhelmed. Here's one of my previous responses:  http://www.baumancollege.org/forum/index.php/topic,8780.0.html

Please read the product labels carefully. All the products I've looked at contain isolated nutrients, often in less than their optimal forms for absorption. They also contain nice herbs and food complexes. But if you go to the bottom of the label you'll see such things as fructose, maltodextrin and other fillers. And what do you know about the quality of their plant ingredients? From where are they sourced? The U.S? China? Are they organic? Are they tested for purity and nutrient value? I prefer purchasing my food complexes from small companies that are transparent about their sourcing and processing.

This is a MLM product. Your red flags should be flying high.

My last point, and I don't mean to sound harsh, is about the comment about Isagenix being a "food & nutrient program that cleanses as it nourishes the body". Nourishment cannot possibly come from isolated, purified nutrient chemicals. Nourishment comes from whole foods, optimized digestion and work on our inner selves. Cleansing comes from the plant world--lots of green veggies, herbs, algaes, sea vegetables, etc. Cleansing/nourishing from a bottle is always so tempting, especially when offered in the form of an overall program, but this is the advertising world at its best, not nutrition at its best.

Yea, they tried to suck me in. I did a talk and ended up saying, that I don't agree with the products. First, they are overpriced and like all MLM companies, they claim their way is the only way. Also, they use additives. Of course I complained to higher ups, but only got talking points. Point is, MOST of these type of companies are the same and you can do better at the retail level without breaking the bank.

Thank you everyone about Isagenix....very interesting.  Excellent information you gave, as well, Jodi.  I'm sorry I only just now read the replies.  I definitely didn't like all the sugar in the products and it wasn't in support of true healthy eating and cleansing, and you couldn't really customize....a very one size fits all and that just doesn't work in the real world!  The guy at the gym that was approaching lots of people, including me, I believe is a big crook & I haven't seen him at the gym ever since over a year ago, so I think he used a temporary membership to try and get sign-ups for his benefit to make money.  Well, it's good to be up on what's going on out there, and it's another learning experience that was fairly short-term for me, thankfully!
